Meet Our Mascot!
Gideon Van Griffin
Hello my name is Gideon, Gideon Van Griffin. When I first met William Clippinger I was just a child. My mother was gone I had no brothers and sisters. I was alone. One day I looked into the sky and saw a mighty dragon flying toward me. Knowing what was inevitable I began to think it was over, and my short life flashed in my eyes. Until there he was Will Clippinger had come to rescue me. He slayed the dragon, took me into his home, and kept me alive until I was old enough to live on my own. I love Will and can't imagine a life without him in it. That is the reason why I decided to be his mascot in this political campaign, and why I will always support him.

EVSC Policies
~ We believe that the school day in our city's high schools should begin at 8 am and conclude at 3 pm.
~ Half days should be enforced during finals week and on teacher workshop days.
~ Block scheduling should be mandatory for every EVSC highschool.
~ Students should be permitted to leave campus for lunches.
Methamphetamine Epidemic
~ To decrease the amount of methamphetamine in our county, our party is supporting the legislature to make the drug pseudoephedrine, one of the key components of meth, available only through a doctor's prescription.
Traffic Congestion Reduction
~ We recognize the problems posed by our congested roads. To reduce these roadway hazards, we support the building of overpasses at our city's most congested intersections: Burkhardt and the Lloyd Expressway and Lynch Road and Highway 41.
Public Assistance Programs
~ Our party believes that those who sign up for welfare services or other government-funded financial aid should be subject to routine drug testing. Those who fail these tests will no longer qualify for the government-funded financial aid and other similar services.
~ We support government-funded health care an an option, not a mandatory requirement. This health care would not intervene in previously established health care plans.
Consolidation of the City & County Governments
~ Our city and county governments have duplicated services; our party believes that in order to decrease funds spent unnecessarily to keep the two governments separate, consolidating the two governments is the best solution.

Founded in January 2012, the Equalist Party consists of seven women striving for the equality of Evansville. The members of the Equalist Party include our mayoral candidate Kaymi Butler, Christina Rash, Alie Duff, Hanna Abu-taqa, Katie Wright, Morgan Jennings, and Megan Parish.
The Equalist Party is dedicated to the people of Evansville. We aim to make our roads easier to travel, our community a safer place to live, and education our top priority.

Meet Our Candidate: Kaymi Butler
Kaymi Butler initiated her law experience in the Randall T. Shepard Academy for Law and Social Justice throughout both her junior and senior years. She exemplified her leadership abilities by successfully managing one of the first student-led community service projects performed by the students within the Academy. After graduating from Evansville's Central High School, Kaymi continued her education by obtaining her undergraduate degree at the prestigious UC Hastings Law School, graduating at the top of her class. She finalized her education by again, graduating at the top of her class from Harvard Law School.
About the Issues
Roberts Stadium
We believe it would be best for our community to tear down Roberts Stadium and expand the natural beauty of Wesselman Park. Through this expansion, we hope to bring a natural beauty to the area and provide a place for much entertainment.
Methamphetamine
We believe the best solution to this problem is to make pseudoephedrine, a key part of the drug, prescription only. If we can do this, we can successfully eliminate methamphetamine from our society.
Education
We believe that it would be best to eliminate the school choice program, and instead, we would require that all schools meet a higher standard of curriculum. The curriculum would be the same in every school, making every school equal.
We would also like to require all schools to follow a block schedule format.
Economy and Jobs
We believe that it is important to keep the best and brightest right here in Evansville. In order to do this, our goal is to give tax breaks to companies that keep or create more jobs in Evansville.
Transportation
We believe that the main priority with transportation is fixing parking in the downtown area. However, the way we go about this is very important. Rather than addressing multiple areas at a time, we must concentrate on one area at a time.
City and County Consolidation
We believe that it would be best for the city and county governments to consolidate. Even though this would take time and money, in the long run it would definitely be worth it.
Right to Work
We support the Right to Work legislation that has recently passed in Indiana. It is not only a Constitutional Right, but it is also a universal human right that a person cannot be forced to join any association. The Right to Work law does just that, it prevents companies from requiring that an employee belong to a union.

What We Believe.

Platform Outline
- Robert's Stadium- Keep
Robert's Stadium, but we first just raise the floor (with cement obviously) so it
ends the flooding problem. We will appoint a task force that will then come up with two ideas. In the next election, we will let the people vote on which idea they like, therefore allowing the people to decide and not just the mayor and the city council.
- Smoking ban-
comprehensive city-wide smoking ban with the only exemption being
casinos (Casino Aztar)
- Schools- ultimately
believe the school board should control the schools, especially
since one of the core reasons of consolidating the EVSC was to get
the partisan politicians out of administering the schools. However,
if we are to intervene in the schools, I would recommend making
school start at 8:00 and ending at 3:15, and making all high schools
go to block scheduling.
- Consolidation- We
fully support the idea of consolidating city and county government,
as we can consolidating multiple agencies into one and eliminate
waste and multiple department heads with one executive in each
agency. Also consolidate the EPD with the VCSD into the Evansville
Metropolitan Police Department (the EMPD, going off Unigov's
example) except leave the Sheriff as the head of the police
department, but add more requirements to run for the office. We
recommend the person running has at least 5 years of experience in
law enforcement. We believe it should go through a referendum
though.
- Cutting red tape and
making the regulations more clear- The Meny administration would do
whatever possible to make Evansville a more business friendly city.
As a part of this, we propose. What we mean by this is reducing only
unneeded regulations, and helping businesses comply with building
codes by publishing all regulations online and making sure a
business understands the regulations so that there are no unexpected
expenses. We must also make the taxes in Evansville as low as
possible by being a lean government.
- Traffic congestion-We
think Highway 41 should be expanded into three lanes where the
traffic from the Lloyd expressway is getting on it. It was not wise
thinking to end the three lanes right where the traffic from one of
the biggest roads enters on.
- Welfare- Keep this
power in township hands, the less power the Mayor has over this, the
better.
