The Cornerstones of the Shepard Academy
Social Justice WatchYour group will be required to locate and present a series of articles about current events having to do with your ethnic group.
Social Justice WatchStep #1: Locate the Article
Each member of the group will search and locate an article from a credible news source. You will then be required to submit to the Angel Dropbox (2:40 Friday, February 15) the following: * Title of the Article * An image you have selected that represents the article * Internet-Link to the article * Brief explanation for why this article is important and why your group should choose it to present to the class. Step #2 The Pitch (Sell It) Each member of the group will present their article to their group members and persuade them to select your article to be the one that is presented to the group. The article that is selected will earn bonus points. Inform Mr. Fetscher whose article was selected. Step #3 Group Selected Summary and Response Each group member will now use the template located below to complete a well written summary of the article (imagine I have not read it and I will be quizzed on it later) as well as a response in which you explain your thoughts, opinions, and predictions about the article. Your summary and response is due by 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 21. Step #4 Jig-Saw One member from each group will be grouped together with one member from each of the other groups. Each member will present their group's selected article to the members from the other groups. You will need to explain the background and significance of the events from your article. Each member will then select one article (other than their own) that they will then visit that ethnic group's weebly page and read the complete article. Once you have read the article you will then use the template below to complete a summary and response of the article you chose from the presentations. Your summary and response from the articles presented during the jig-saw will be due by 11:00 A.M., Monday, February 25. |
