What's in a Name?
Overview
Although President George Washington warned about the emergence of political parties they nevertheless have become an intricate part of America's history. Political parties are not mentioned in the United States Constitution but they have been protected under the First Amendment guaranteeing the right to peaceably assembly.
The Task
Working with a group it will be your responsibility to research, document, and present the history of America's two prominent and most influential political parties: Democrats and Republicans. In order to successfully understand the influence of political parties it is necessary to become familiar with the origins, histories, and influences of these political parties.
* Identify when, where, and by whom each political party was created.
* Identify the symbols and motto's associated with each political party.
* Create an historical and linear timeline of major events for each political party.
* Identify historically important leaders among the membership of the party.
* Identify prominent leaders currently influencing each political party.

The Product
Using a posterboard you will need to divide it into four quadrants.
* The New Mt. Rushmore
In order to celebrate the and draw recognition towards the historically prominent members of your political party you will create a new Mt. Rushmore
in their honor. You will need to choose five individuals who you believe are the pillars of the party. You will need to choose five (5) individuals that you
believe are paramont in the creation and continuation of the political party.
Your group must create a visual representation of your monument depicting the images of the individuals who you have chosen. The visual
creation should be based on the existing Mt. Rushmore Memorial located in South Dakota.
* Top Left Quadrant
This is where you will place the name, symbols, and mottos of the political party.

This is where you will place a comparrison chart diagraming the historical and modern political platform on similiar issues.
* Bottom Left
This is where you will place images and short descriptions of historically influential figures for the political party.
* Bottom Right
This is where you will place images and short descriptions of modern influential figures of the political party.
